Todos Santos, Baja California Sur

Mexico

2023-2024

Collab. Perma Casco Arquitectura.

This project in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur consists of two compact rental casitas designed for short-term stays along Mexico’s Pacific coast. Conceived as a small hospitality retreat, the project balances openness toward the ocean with a spatial organisation that preserves privacy and calm for guests.

The architecture is arranged vertically to separate the more private sleeping areas from the social and outdoor spaces. Bedrooms are located on the ground floor, where the architecture remains more enclosed and protected, creating quiet interiors that maintain distance from neighbouring properties and the surrounding landscape.

Above, the project opens toward the Pacific Ocean through elevated outdoor spaces that capture views and breezes. Each casita features its own rooftop terrace, allowing guests to inhabit the upper level as an extension of the living space. At the center of the roofscape, a shared pool acts as a collective gathering point, offering a place to rest and enjoy the expansive horizon of the Baja coastline.

This vertical arrangement allows the project to maintain a compact footprint while creating a layered spatial experience that moves from private ground-level rooms to open rooftop terraces oriented toward the ocean.

Material simplicity and clear volumes reinforce the calm atmosphere of the project, allowing the surrounding desert landscape and ocean views to remain the dominant presence.

The casitas offer a quiet architectural response to the coastal environment of Todos Santos, where privacy, views, and outdoor living shape the experience of inhabiting the Pacific landscape.
