Cumana C-5 is a residential project located on the outskirts of Puerto Escondido in Playa Cumana, developed as a shared coastal retreat for two close collaborators. Conceived as a flexible dwelling, the house is designed to operate either as a single residence or as two independent homes, allowing the owners to inhabit the project together or use it separately.

The architecture is organized vertically, with each level functioning as an autonomous living space. The upper floor forms a compact house with its own living, dining, and kitchen area accompanied by a private bedroom. Below, the ground level contains two additional bedrooms and a separate living and dining area, allowing the lower portion of the house to function independently when needed. This dual configuration allows the project to adapt between shared living and independent occupation.

A long lap pool extends alongside the house and acts not only as a place for swimming but also as a quiet water element that reinforces the atmosphere of calm throughout the property. Rather than acting as a central recreational feature, the pool is conceived as a linear landscape element that accompanies daily life.

Surrounded by dense tropical vegetation, the project responds to its jungle setting by lifting the main structure slightly above the ground. This strategy minimizes the building’s footprint while allowing the architecture to appear lightly positioned within the landscape. Elevated floors, open terraces, and filtered views create the sensation of inhabiting the canopy rather than occupying the forest floor.

Cumana C-5 explores a residential architecture that balances shared living, spatial flexibility, and a quiet relationship with the surrounding coastal jungle environment.
